Meditation

Slowing the rhythm down.

Two ways into the practice. Begin wherever you are, no experience needed.

Your brain runs on electrical rhythms, and most of your waking life is spent in what is called a beta state. Fast, alert, useful for solving problems and getting things done, but also the same state your brain sits in when you are stressed, wired, or simply cannot switch off. Meditation, at its simplest, is the practice of slowing that rhythm down.

As the mind settles, brain activity shifts from beta into alpha, a slower frequency linked to calm, relaxed alertness, and with sustained practice, into theta, slower still, associated with deep rest, emotional processing, and the kind of clarity that tends to arrive once the noise finally quiets. This is not simply a nice feeling. This shift lowers cortisol and adrenaline, the body's primary stress hormones, reduces anxiety, improves emotional regulation, and measurably changes brain structure with sustained practice.

For those who do want to go further, meditation is also the ground everything else on this path is built on. But that is entirely your choice to make, not a requirement to begin.

Lower cortisol and adrenaline, the body's primary stress hormones

Improved memory and information processing

Reduced anxiety, and steadier emotional regulation

Lower blood pressure and a calmer nervous system overall

Better, deeper sleep

Greater creativity and problem-solving capacity

Sharper focus and mental clarity

Measurable, positive changes in brain structure with sustained practice

I teach two different ways into the practice, depending on what you are looking for.

Sanctuary Meditation has made a big difference to my practice. I am more focused, able to achieve a deeper state more easily, with less chatter pulling me off in the opposite direction. I highly recommend it, especially to those who think they cannot meditate.

As someone who previously found meditation difficult to connect with, Anna's class completely changed that for me. The space held such a high, positive energy that I found myself fully present in a way I never had before. The benefits stayed with me long after I left.
